about 7 billion people on earth, around 20 thousand polar bears.
i really don't care about the people killed, they knew the risks when entering the area, it's not the bears fault man thinks he can do whatever he wants.
look at it this way, you hear a noise in your home and go and see whats going on, you discover that you're being robbed. you get angry ...[text shortened]... nds up killing you 'in self defense'. what should happen to the person who just killed you?

in my scenario the person breaking it in is killing the owner of the house 'in self defense', what happens then?
It looks as if you must have smoked something to come up with all these ludicrous suggestions.

Vivisecion for instance? Why get hung up on this one particular incident? These people were fighting for their lives. I think they had every right to defend themselves. Who said the polar bear owns the habitat it was linving in? Why did it have the right to kill people for walking by? It didn't. It was just instinct, just as people have instincts to go and explore, have adventures and see the beauty in the world. The whole thing was a tragic set of circumstances and events. I don't think they set out to have a fight with a bear. Why does anyone or anything have to be held accountable, when there has already been enough damage caused?

people kill animals for food, animals kill animals for food... animals can kill humans for food. i don't know why the bear felt the need to attack and kill, maybe it was hungry...
"In 1973, Canada, the United States, Denmark, Norway and the former U.S.S.R. signed the International Agreement on the Conservation of Polar Bears and their Habitat."

this is why someone needs to be accountable for the bears death... it's a protected species. did the students need to go exploring in the bears habitat
just as people have instincts to go and explore, have adventures and see the beauty in the world.
