By barring people with multiple accounts, are we not risking barring genuine users, for instance more than one member of a family using the same PC?

Yes because Russ will just ban anyone who happens to have the same IP as any other account.

Well done for pointing out the flaw. I bet he never even thought about it.

It is interesting that almost all the games ThePO and FJPV played together ended in a draw, and they all happend to be tourney games where the draws are worth something.
his is not true:

games 181347, 188840
and tournament Alpha 6x6 1/11 1162503 Though on the latter one, one could claim that it served to make ThePO's victory sure

Where does it say that they were the same users. All it says is that they operated multiple accounts.
Me thinks Russ chose the course of least resistance.

i had correspondence from ironman a long time ago when ironman suspected that fernando and po were the same person ...

i think it was based on the openings they chose, and the losing lines that they both chose to follow ... even though they lost over and over using those lines.

all very interesting indeed ... not quite sure what i make of it all ... anyway ... who is for a game of chess?

What if my house mate wants to play chess and opens an account from my computer?

Do I get banned then?

I really like the idea of putting something to the blade. Unfortunately, its doubtful if I will ever actually do it to anything other than a vegetable...

Go out into the woods and find a nice carcass. You can take a blade to it all you want.

Who in the top 20 deserves to be there? The tables look a mess. 2 have left, 2 have been banned, how many more will go?? Peter9 is no longer subscribed and will no doubt drop out of the top 20 (unless he dolls out some wonger...

WOW, ThePo and fernando J P Vasquez played 38 games against each other!! Almost all of them tournaments!! What an amazing amount of draws, no wonder they got banned!!

No, a single IP address is not indicative of multiple accounts in itself. But, that said, it always does flag a potential problem, obviously.
