Yeah i have tried and given up. Easy don't buy anymore cigerettes. I know that may make it sound over simplistic buy it's true. When you feel tempted to go into the shop to buy some, decline to do so. The first few times it may be hard but AFTER that it gets better. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY CIGERETTES YOU CAN'T SMOKE ANY.

Still going (ehem) strong.OK but I have to admit that i got very drunk last night and had a few puffs BUT that person wasn't me and I take no responsibility for what the idiot did. but my resolve still stands.
Originally posted by Black LungI've been away, otherwise I would have been behind you from the start. Go for it!! A lot of what has been said is very good advice. I quit 9 months ago, and once (about 1 month in) I had a few drags from a cigarette - that was nearly enough to break my resolve. Accept that you are starting from square one, recollect your resolve, remind yourself why your doing this, and that you can't "just have one" - one cigarette will make you have to start quitting all over again, and 2nd time around you'll be weaker and more likely to fail.

Stick with it, and keep posting on these forums. I did when I quit & I don't think I would have succeeded without the peoples help.
BEst of luck to you. I quit a while back - I went for 2.5 years without a single cigarette - then I moved to New York city and started up again. Now I smoke a managable amount - a pack (20 cigs) every 2 weeks or so. There is a happy medium somewhere, but I think if you want to be there you have break the psychological addiction first. That's the hard part. The physical addiction is easy.
