Take a look at Craig's list or any other online "adult service provider". Are they all in fear for their lives? The answer is obviously not. Believe it or not, but, the sex trade is a multi billion dollar industry in the US. Do you really think all those people are sex slaves? Get real.
You've got no experience with this and are blind to the realities of the society you live in. People you know, people you think are "normal" engage in all manner of perversions. Drugs, alcohol, butt plugs, spiked heals, furry costumes, you name it. As I type this, I can guarantee that someone in the city you live in is snorting a line of coke off their significant other's ass.
There isn't a city in the US that doesn't have a sex trade and a veritable cornucopia of porn, massage parlours, prostitution and drugs to accompany it. Your apparent view of society is but the shiny, high gloss paint that covers reality. You may not like it, but, it's the truth.
