There was this chap who was out collecting sticks on the Sabbeth day. Perhaps he was feeling a little chilly and wanted to warm his hands, or perhaps he wanted to heat some broth. Maybe his wife was having a baby and he wanted to heat the water for the hot towels. Unfortunately the Bible doesn't tell us why he was collecting sticks. But the Lord didn't like anyone doing anything on the Sabbath so he ordered Moses and his thuggish mates to stone the poor chap to death. This they subsequently did.

Don't believe me that RBHill's God would do such a thing? Keen for Salvation from such a nice God? Check it out in Num 15:35-36

You get a rec.

And now prepare to be attacked by the sword wielding christians. Or even worse, they're going to try and save you.

Perhaps you should start an "Anti-Bible study". I mean if it's ok to have a bible study it's ok to have an anti-bible study right?

Oh well contextualised and well presented argument. Do you possibly work for CNN or SKY?

To bad I am not God and Praise God for that, I am a visel for Christ.

The Sabbath-Breaker Put to Death
32 While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, 34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. 35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp." 36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Stoning a man for gathering wood on the Sabbath seems like a severe punishment, and it was. This act was a deliberate SIN, defying God's law against working on the Sabbath. Perhaps the man was trying to get ahead of everyone else, in addition to breaking the Sabbath.

In this time God won't tell people to Kill people. But when God's people are Raptured God will destory all the people who accept the mark of the beast.

RBHill - You can spin the act until it's as fine as cotton candy, but in the end a mob killed a man because he was picking up sticks.

If that's the God you worship, then if I were you I'd be walking on pins and needles. Especially on Sundays...

Revelations13:13-18
13And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. 14Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
18This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

Nice try. Perhaps a little context will help here:

(Num 15:22-36)
22
"When through inadvertence you fail to carry out any of these commandments which the LORD gives to Moses,
23
and through Moses to you, from the time the LORD first issues the commandment down through your generations:
24
if the community itself unwittingly becomes guilty of the fault of inadvertence, the whole community shall offer the holocaust of one young bull as a sweet-smelling oblation pleasing to the LORD, along with its prescribed cereal offering and libation, as well as one he-goat as a sin offering.
25
Then the priest shall make atonement for the whole Israelite community; thus they will be forgiven the inadvertence for which they have brought their holocaust as an oblation to the LORD.
26
Not only the whole Israelite community, but also the aliens residing among you, shall be forgiven, since the fault of inadvertence affects all the people.
27
"However, if it is an individual who sins inadvertently, he shall bring a yearling she-goat as a sin offering,
28
and the priest shall make atonement before the LORD for him who sinned inadvertently; when atonement has been made for him, he will be forgiven.
29
You shall have but one law for him who sins inadvertently, whether he be a native Israelite or an alien residing with you.
30
"But anyone who sins defiantly, whether he be a native or an alien, insults the LORD, and shall be cut off from among his people.
31
Since he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken his commandment, he must be cut off. He has only himself to blame."

32
While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was discovered gathering wood on the sabbath day.
33
Those who caught him at it brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly.
34
4 But they kept him in custody, for there was no clear decision as to what should be done with him.
35
Then the LORD said to Moses, "This man shall be put to death; let the whole community stone him outside the camp."
36
So the whole community led him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Read in context, the most natural inference is that this episode is about a man who deliberately and defiantly disobeyed the word of God.

The Sabbath was and always will be on Saturday (Friday sundown till Saturday sundown). Just because the christian church has decided to call Sunday the Sabbath does not make it so. I wonder why the church thinks it is ok for them to change anything that they claim god created? Are they better than god? Is this an example of the traditions of men that jesus spoke about? The "tradition" would still be of god and NOT of man had the church not changed it.
