I'm self-taught (ie I can't read music in real time) I play bass and guitar in country or rock bands (some recorder, harmonica, mandolin too) I play some of Bach's two-part inventions on the bass or guitar(not at the same time!) One day I'll put something on tape and hear what it sounds like together. The start of the Brandenburg (3 I think) makes a good warm-up on the bass, lots of position shifts.
As a bass player, I love Bach; Jack Bruce said he was "the guvner" of bass lines.

some people really are true lovers of bach's music.
they have developed a sweet ear for this and they do receive their just desserts!
they are known as bachlavas.

ROFLOL!!

I'm going to try that one on my teacher today. She's originally from Moscow so it's dicey if she'll catch on. 😀

The Beatles liked him too-Get Bach Jo Jo! Wasn't Bach Scandianavian? There was Norway he could Finnish his Swede Danish.
OK, I'll just Bach away and get Bach to work.

i have no doubt that the creator of this thread is most appreciative of what 3 of us have contributed recently even though he wished to talk primarily about organ music.
so being respectful of his wishes for this thread, i would like to comment how beautifully indeed bach's organ music does eternally unfold!
this is why it is such wonderful organami and can never be baroquen.

Right Bach at you. However, I will not tolerate continuol violins being done to my thread, and so request that you Bach off, too, or you'll find yourself a fuguetive from justice 😉.

I'm sure the thread creator is somewhat taken abach by all this contrapuntal nonsense, when all he wanted was a serious etudinal discourse on the organ. Sorry, that sounds dirty, I'll try again, a serious interlude *with* an ... Oh nevermind, I'll just bachpedal out now.
