I am extending the word about our fantasy football league here.
If you want to join, go to the Sports forum and confirm that you are joining, that you are sure you will. Do not confirm here, I will miss it.
The people who confirm earliest get the spots. We have 9 people confirmed. Max at 12 people. Live draft, so be there.

Originally posted by shortcircuitNFL is not the "Real deal" it is barely football - how many people actually kick it in your game? Punters a few times and special teams for field goals. It should be called Throw ball instead.
he is talking about "the real deal"....NFL football.....not soccer.
Originally posted by nook7Sure punts, extra points and field goals, but the hitting is intense. Rugby is more entertaining than soccer. Soccer is more for drunken rowdies fighting in the stands anyway.

Originally posted by Seitseactually it is...why else would all of the best "foreign" players want to come try their mettle in the American classics? The pay is better, the facilities are better, the prestige is greater.
What's soccer? 😕
Someone should tell the yanks that the U.S. is not the center of the world.

The Tactics of the NFL are great and the hits awesome. Rugby (League in particular) is very dull. l dont watch it unless the alternative is paint drying. The most played and watched sport in Australia is AFL - Australian rules football. This along with Football (Soccer & Gaelic) are games whree all players actually use their feet (hence the reason why they are the only ones that should be called football)
There you go my 20c worth.
Originally posted by nook7Here's change back from your 20 cents then. Rugby is a much different game than soccer. Rugby is intense and rough and a greta sport. Soccer bores the hell of of me. But, name me 5 rugby players in the world making one million dollars a year. Name me 10 soccer players that are. In the NBA....nearly everyone makes over a million a year. In the NFL, the same is true. In MLB, the same is true. The money is here and so are the best players. Cricket vs baseball....no contest. Look at the NHL. The best hockey players come to play in the NHL. If the MSL ever catches hold here, you can bet the best soccer players will migrate here as well. It is already happening and soccer is still a distant 5th in popualrity here. Like it or not, the US IS the center of the sports world.

Rugby Union can be good imo. i realise that soccer can be too low scoring for some. Remember money is not everything in sport.
What many Americans dont seem to realise is that there are many other sports played elsewhere , and that most countries in th world to not play hockey or baseball. The current World champs in baseball are Japan and Basketball are Argentina btw.
Soccer is the no1 sport in the world by a mile (as all you need is a ball hence the many thirld world countisie that produce players out of ghettos)
Originally posted by nook7Sorry again mate...the world champs in baseball and basketball would not be the world champs if the very best of the US played against the very best form the other countries. That isn't the case. It is a sprinkling of some of our best against the very best elsewhere. The reason is money. The very best don't need the exposure and they don't get paid so they don't play for the US. If you are a true fan, you realize this too.

Originally posted by Dr StrangeloveI think you are referring to soccer now....and that would be true because soccer has not caught on here yet. They are trying to get it to catch though. Beckem and Freddie Addue (sp?) are here now and they are trying to draw more top stars over. Brian Ching is becoming a star as well. But, there is more appetite for the sport in Europe and so the money would tend to be better there. Now, as far as NFL football, Europe is where we send the minor league players to play if they hope to make it in the NFL. NFL Europe I believe they call it. I guarantee you, the top 20% of NFL salaries outdistance the top 80% of soccer combined.
ALL the top American football players would love to play in Europe - and [if they were any good] would get better paid. In fact, many do so already.
