It seems we have a lot of suggestions already. let the creative juices flow.

Can I take it for granted that we will do two Competitions. One (the original) for 100o word Limit and a second one later in the xear for 250 words. I suggest that we discuss the seocnd one then only later. If there is any disagreement, please post with your Points.

Question: What's a "hobnob"?

I do like the "twisted-period-piece" concept. History rewritten with a spot of irony is interesting.
Can one imagine the fun of the myriad "what-ifs"?

- Like, what if Lord Stanley had sided with Richard III?

- What if King Harold's housecarls had refused to a forced march directly after Stamford Bridge?

- What if Blucher had continued to withdraw back into Prussia?

Anyway, fresh ideas are fun.

Length of word-count matters not to me. They're all bound to be interesting.

Period conspiracy drama with a twist: What if Trump had really won the election ?

10 words, max. Nano-fiction competition.

What if Trump 'has' really won the election.

Counter-factual hypothetical: 'had.'

I think separating the two competitions makes sense.

Perhaps we're ready now for a poll on theme/genre?

So the list as collected by Paul A. Roberts was:

1. Futuristic western
2. Alien invasion
3. Murder mystery
4. Romance
5. Hobnobs (Lemondrops concept)
6. Period drama with a twist
7. Mission to Mars
8. Conspiracy

I add (from my original intention):

9. a happy day

I now will let settle this and set up a poll if nobody makes a serious suggestion in the next few hours.

I am sorry about the amount of edits...

Once the choice is made, for the theme, do we get the chance to write in either word count?

No. This one is the competition for the long format (1000 words). After we will have cooled down after the competition I will organise a short one for the 250 words. We can then decide to write about the same topic or choose something diferent.

So do we put forward our choice? 'Cause I'm sticking with murder mystery.
