My point was about the assessment of the value of someone's art being independent of the assessment of the artist as a human being. Your point about Hitler seems to be that if someone did some social good (creating jobs), this can offset the evil they do. It's a different issue. And besides, Hitler wasn't much of an artist.

On the view that you allude to, the relative magnitudes of same would seem to be important, and i find it less plausible. I don't think, for example, that any art (music etc) could offset the evil of the holocaust. but, if Hitler had actually been a great artist, we could acknowledge that while still thinking he was a horrible human being.

hows the stomach? some say that negative emotion especially hate has adverse health effects, like ulcers, cancer, problems getting it up.
