I love both new and old non-smelly books.
I have some old second hand books (1835) that smell like pipe-tobacco... I love those books :-).

They can make you forget the book is for reading... not smelling and caressing :-).

I should take that course for librarian next year. Imagine living a life between books... all day :-).

Who says books aren't for smelling and caressing? They can also make nice sounds when you leaf through them or when you close them. And they can taste good, although I stopped eating them when I was still a toddler. 😉

all my books are for smelling and caressing. 🙂 I'll rather cough up some extra for the nice covers, than get the cheap crappy version.

:-) Leather covers... hmmmm... :-p Heavy books dropped on your table in a library... yes, that's the sound that makes my heartbeat go faster.

Why the ultimate male dream? 😠

Maybe we could start a TFC second-hand bookstore!

One of my fond memories from Hay-on-Wye is the weird owner of one of the stores shrinking back from the book about snakes I was buying. He made a big show of being frightened to death by the cover, which had a nice picture of a snake, and not wanting to touch the book at all. The trade attracts some real characters.

I sincerely hope it's not only the male ultimate dream... nothing cooler than reaching for the same book :-).

I would love to be one of those characters... Old cardigan, pipe in the mouth, nice slow walk, maybe dragging my feet a bit... *sigh* the life they live :-).

I've never encountered (before) a female who had that dream, but many of my male friends have talked about it, not knowing of each others. at some point we noticed that it seems to be quite usual dream for a certain type of men. record shop dreams are alike, but I've never heard a woman expressing a wish to open a record shop.
