@very-rusty saidI plant seeds.
How many trees does it take to produce oxygen for one person?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidNo trees, not seeds
I plant seeds.
On average, one tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year. Two mature trees can provide enough oxygen for a family of four." That same acre of trees also produces enough oxygen for 18 people to breathe for a year." Not all trees produce the same amount of oxygen in the same amount of time.

@very-rusty saidYou don't think some trees grow from seeds?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidWe always planted small trees not seeds, as they grow quicker. We have one my father planted when I was born. You should see the size of it, has a picture of when he planted it also. You need to keep the earth around the roots when replanting them as it is a shock to the tree to be up rooted, but I've seen many take, and have planted many myself.

@handyandy saidAndy it can vary! I believe 40 60 would make for a healthy lot of trees in an acre
How many trees in an acre?

@very-rusty saidYep, google confirms that.

@very-rusty saidAre you sure? I'd estimate about 300 healthy trees per acre.

@handyandy saidI think 300 would be too many Andy per acre. They should be about 20 to 30 feet apart do you think you are going to fit 300 of them on an acre of land?

@very-rusty saidTrees won't grow 30 feet apart unless you thin them out.

@handyandy saidAndy, We have done it many times. Yes they can grow 20 to 30 feet apart! I've helped with replanting trees where acres of land hand burnt. It is quite possible. You should see those trees now!

Thinning out is a whole different thing there, and that is so the other trees will survive! The larger a tree gets the more room it needs to grow my old friend! Usually the reason trees are thinned out to begin with.

@very-rusty saidI'm talking about trees in a forest, not a planned grove or orchard.

@handyandy saidWhole different story Andy!

I'm talking about an acre of cleared land.
