I used to eat Muller Rice after I went for a run,
Somebody suggested I opened a tin of rice pudding and put what was left in a Tupperware pot in the fridge for next time. The tins recycle completely but I recently read 98% of plastic doesn't get recycled.
Looking back that's a lot of plastic tubs I've stopped putting in the rubbish. It soon adds up. 3 per week is about a 1000 in 7 years.
So, please share any simple changes you have found that help the planet?

Plastic is the blight of the ocean and therefore the blight of the world.

@divegeester saidTotally agree. One of my daughters got into microwaving sachets of porridge. She never knew that you can still microwave porridge in the bowl from large sacks, which is way cheaper as well. She has changed and says it is as good.
Good move.

I think Surfers Against Sewage started down your way? Their rep is excellent up here and does loads of awareness raising about treating the estuaries with respect.
@torunn saidYes, fabric bags are much better reusable and you can even wash them. We been using them for at least a couple of decades now, maybe longer.
@petewxyz
Avoid using plastic bags, fabric is better - helps save money and the environment.
All medicines and other pharmaceutical items that you can't use should be returned to the pharmacy.
I am wondering what they are going to do once there are no plastic bags around and taking the dog for a walk when he does his job? Is there a replacement for that?

@petewxyz saidYou people actually buy rice pudding? Why not stop buying all that canned stuff, which is oten unhealthy and wasteful of resources and just make it yourself. Stop watching so much TV and nonsense movies, stop idolizing actors and sports 'heros' and spend some time in the garden planting some food and time in the kitchen cooking.

@very-rusty saidIn the UK you can get biodegradable dog bags. Personally I hate seeing them though and I would prefer it flicked under a gorse bush with a stick. People seem to leave them lying around more than could happen by chance.

Terminology is a bizarre legal maze in the UK. You can call something compostable even if it breaks down to the microplastics found in fish and filter feeders. It has to be called 'fully compostable' to avoid that and I believe it is only when it's called biodegradable that it breaks down to naturally found elements.
@very-rusty saidYep .. thats the life we live. Never saw rice pudding selling in the groceries here. We cook that ourselves and dont eat our of cans and microwave meals ... disgusting stuff.

@rajk999 saidWhat makes the greater difference, small changes by many or big changes by a few?

BTW You presume to judge the lifestyles of people that you have never met. There's a small thing you could change that could do some good.
@petewxyz saidOption 3 - Big changes by many. Advanced countries are far too wasteful of the worlds resources. Dont argue. I have lived in many countries. My post was not directed at you.
