@petewxyz saidI like to put biscuits in my sandwiches.
I see that as massive. The prepared sandwiches so often come in plastic packets and when you look on beaches and in woodlands that's the stuff you find. People also tend to buy a drink in a single use plastic bottle or cup at the same time as the sandwiches so it can break that pattern too.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidBut are the biscuits individually wrapped? I thought it was weird when Mini Cheddars appeared in plastic bags about the size of crisp packets. Does that mean it actually sells more if you put biscuits in little plastic bags?!?
I like to put biscuits in my sandwiches.
@divegeester saidHave you ever thought of a career in the Treasury?
Where I used to work there was an on site Costa outlet which was subsidised. A coffee was £2.50 and I used to have 2 day at least. One day I worked out that this was costing me approximately £1000 per year.
Furthermore, lunch was subsidised but cost me approximately £3.00 per day. This worked out to around £700 per year.
So £1,700 on “subsidised” food and beverages at work.

@divegeester saidI bet that was in the days when the coffee was in a disposable cup with a single use plastic top on as well. Those tops wash up at the tide line all the time although in fairness I think Costa let you take your own cup now so some positive change going on.

@petewxyz saidYes, 9/10 times we take our own cups.

@rajk999 saidWell everyone has their likes and dislikes I do happen to agree with you on this though.
Yep .. thats the life we live. Never saw rice pudding selling in the groceries here. We cook that ourselves and dont eat our of cans and microwave meals ... disgusting stuff.
I will even take longer to heat up something in the oven that would be much quicker in the microwave.

@divegeester saidMosses and some algae grown in the beard or moustache area can reduce your overall COâ‚‚ admissions as an interim measure.
Timing is critical.
I keep winter heating expenses really low by closing the bedroom lined roman blinds as it starts to get dark and colder. On really cold days they stay down most of the day if the rooms are unused. Once it’s dark all of them are closed. I use draught excluders and thick curtains in our unheated utility room and collect free seasoned firewood for my wood burner from across the road, compliments of the sad event of Ash dieback 😢
I make huge batches of veg and lentil l soup and freeze it in a concentrated form. I bake my own bread, buying a range of quality flours online. It’s not cheap but a great taste.
We never waste any food! The veg peelings get composted.

@drewnogal saidWow amazing, do you mind being asked how that came about? Was that a lifestyle change at some point or did it just evolve that way from your values?

@drewnogal saidHome baked break is astoundingly good. We are looking forward to having it again once we move into our new place.
