I can see who your "friends" are here, and how fickle you are with them.

You should try taking some of your own advice!

"I think that morality is something innate within us..."

That's a personal opinion, and quite unprovable. Morals are learned.

"...I think it defines us as humans and sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom."

We're talking about morality, not animal behavior. We learned that stuff in third grade. You didn't add anything to our knowledge.

"It is nurtured in us by our families and our communities and our diverse societies. Indeed, it is the very thing that makes human society function, and that is probably exactly why it developed and evolved."

That's a can of worms right there. If you're referring to the lack of morals, then I'd say our families and communities have dropped the ball on that one. Immorality is rampant and pervades human existence at every level.
But that's a whole other debate.

"Philosophers - and, in a way, theologians and religious people too - have been pondering it in their various ways for as long as humans have existed."

And still we see massive declines in civilization and anything remotely resembling "the brotherhood of man".
You're an idealist, no?

There's nothing funny about the topic. I'm not laughing.

Except at your ridiculous attempts at sounding sophisticated. You mince words better than anyone I know.

"I believe that, being the social creatures that we are, that wanting or needing to act in a morally sound way is innate within us and this is nurtured in us by our families and our communities."

That is by any stretch clearly a declaration of self-righteousness.

The Bible doesn't teach us how to be self righteous. It teaches us that the righteousness we need is God's righteousness. You didn't learn that in the 28 years you practiced Christianity?

In the mean time we need to learn to be humble. Something I'm still trying to understand. 😉

This is an interesting answer from someone who believes that humans were all created by a God figure and that they were created in His image and endowed with souls - at the moment the egg is fertilized by the sperm - which will go on to be "saved" if they place their faith in "unprovable" things.

Oh Jesus! You had to go and open that can of worms!

There you go again! 😞

Nobody cares about our stupid argument anyway. 😉

And, frankly, I don't think it'll change the world even if we proved anything or not. You've made up your mind that a "God figure" hasn't given us a moral code to follow, that you are equipped innately with one of your own, and that's the end of the discussion.

All that's left is for me to confess I'm a homophobic right wing conservative false God worshipping backwoods butt scratching fart sniffing nose picking booger eating hate mongering brainwashed flea bitten knuckle dragging anthropomorphic sloth. Then you'd be happy!

Feel free to add anything you think I missed. 😉

Here is my take on the shooter, he was a confused homosexual with self loathing issues due to his indoctrination into Islam. He then was rejected by another gay man and then decided to at least try to atone for his "gayness" by dying in jihad for Allah.

The only question becomes, what will he do with the 72 virgins?

Rejection by a gay man! It's enough to make anyone murder for virgins. 🙄

Were you hoping that people did care about the arguments you were putting forward?
