I only went out to the third move, otherwise it looks cluttered and hard to find a good angle. Hope the lighting is all good. You forgot to tell me what resolution you wanted, but right now it's 1024x768 (my desktop is 1280x1024, so I shrank it).

Been there, done that! Nice pic.

Your chess set would obviously cost a fair bit to make.
Does anyone know what the most expensive chess set in the world is? I don't but I'd be interested to know....
While I was over in Sorrento (Italy) last year there is a shop there which is apparently world famous for its goods (and I don't know the name of it 😀 ) and it sells really pricey items to the many cruise liners full of tourists that visit Sorrento and anyone else that has the money. There was a chess set in there for 250,000 Euro's.
I'd be scared to touch the bloody thing at that price. 😉

Could you make one for me with the moves 1.e4,Nf6?
Please? 😀
EDIT: The resolution you used is just fine and I'll leave the choice of the angle to the artist 🙂

Cool. Could you please post the .max file? I might even make a new logo for the Losing is Also an Art clan. The old one is also made in 3ds max, from one of the tutorials; but your chess set looks much better!

How large is the 3dmax file? Let me know and perhaps I can host a small page to download from.... with a link back to your images even.

Here is SirLoseALot's one:

I changed the wood to a marble-like thing, hope you like it better than the wood. If not, I can easily change it back and re-render. It takes about 5 or 6 minutes.

But indeed, waaay to pricey... 🙁
O.
Dreamlax,
That's beautiful. The black pieces look especially real, and very nice even for real pieces!
What about a lighter silver for the white pieces, instead of the glass look? The glass is well done, too, but even in real life I'm not too fond of glass chess pieces.
If you can do the lighter silver for the white side, then I have a follow-up request if it's not too much trouble 🙂
I can't help saying it again: that's beautiful. In fact, my wife is very impressed and she hates chess 😉
Originally posted by huntingbearHere you go... sort of. I couldn't do the light and dark silver (just started to look wierd), so instead, I did this:

Then I couldn't decide what colour should be white, so the "whiter" pieces are white, but that's easily changeable.

The follow-up request, if it's not too much trouble, is to remove all the white (silver) men accept for the king and the pawn on e2, leaving the King and the King's pawn facing the whole black (gold) army. And rotate the board about 90 degrees counter-clockwise, so the white king and pawn are almost facing directly at the viewer.
I hope I have made that clear and that it's not too much trouble.
By the way, I like the changes to the board and lighting. Was the stronger lighting too much reflection off the white pieces when you made them metallic instead of glass? Anyway, it's very nice. Thanks again!

Hope I got the angle right... the gold pieces don't seem to look nearly as good as they did in the previous picture. Well, I'll let you decide what you want and I'll get under way with it 🙂
