Trend Micro is OK but it uses ActiveX, which is a danger in itself!

Try these:
Sygate Personal Firewall Pro
AVG Anti-virus (free, updates every 24 hours)
Spy Sweeper
The Proxomitron (free)

You can get all the above for f**e, if you use a bit of nous.

Active Eggs use an especially nasty shell to compromise your PC.

And isn't it time to switch avatars, Jimbo?

Stinger may work too if you're lucky. Google it, download it, set it to delete on detection then run a scan. Fingers crossed.

You aren't getting ripped off at all. In my area if you have a virus the local computer guys expect you to take your computer into their shop and then they FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE!!! Yeah, what damn good is that!?

A friend of mine decided to start making house calls for 1/4 less than the computer companies charge you to take your computer in, and he doesn't format the hard drive - he saves all the data when possible.

As you can imagine, he's working from 8:00 am till midnight EVERY DAY with backed up customers.

Have you got a firewall as well? I sometimes get an attack by trojans but the firewall blocks them

Can I suggest AVG, free, supported, easy to use and it doesn't use as much system resource as Norton. Nor does it crash and stall and look like it was made by a child with a penchant for yellow.
