The recent news on the next Indiana Jones movie is that the three principals are attached (Spielberg, Lucas and Ford) and they're working on a final script. There had been other scripts, but none that the three could agree on. There's lots of talk around the net about the subject but nothing concret has been leaked yet. Another rumor has Sean Connery returning.
Coppola is an excellent director, "Godfather" and "Godfather II" are classics and, IMHO, works of art. However, he can be arrogant about his own talent - I thought "Godfather III" was not very good. I truly enjoyed "Tucker" and thought it was very under-rated in the general audience. "Gardens of Stone" is very good as well. I thought his "Dracula" was unimpressive.
I'm not sure I would agree that Spielberg is starting to slip. He's an amazing director. He makes the movies he wants to make, with the people he want to work with. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
Peter Jackson has said that he wants to direct "The Hobbit" but its a tad in the background now as he's working on the remake of "King Kong" currently.
I like Michael Moore's work but I do not consider him a documentarian. In my opinion, he makes editorials, not documentaries.
Originally posted by turtlexMichael Moore has said in some interviews that he considers himself a "non-fiction filmmaker" instead of a documentarian... *shrug*.... "Bowling For Columbine" I enjoyed but one thing that upset me was finding out how much of what was said in that movie wasn't true (for examples, buy the DVD. I think there's a section where he admits this and explains the real facts. I personally had to read about in a couple magazines.) I have friends in Canada who tell me that it is DEFINITELY not as happy-pappy as he made it out to be. Such as, the news coverage of the traffic light being installed must have been news from the most boring town in all of Canada! Anyone here from Canada is open to comment on this, I'm really wondering what reason he would have to hold back the truth from us. That's just as bad as flat-out lying. Maybe we're all just that gullible though. Who knows.

Michael Moore definitely has his own agenda when making films. I don't know if it matters that he's admitted as much. I consider him to be an editorial filmmaker.
I was disappointed when "Bowling" won the Academy Award for Best Documentary feature. Just like "Fahrenheit 9/11", "Bowling for Columbine" was an editorial (on guns and the culture of violence in America).
I'm a documentary fan, so I'm sort of a movie snob around the whole documentary issue.

Have you heard the latest. Lucas is going to finish episode 3 then he will go back to episodes 4,5,6 and insert characters from 1, 2, and 3 into the original trilogy then and only then will he finally release the first trilogy onto dvd...a truly sad day for star wars fans??? Has anyone heard about a new Indiana Jones Movie??? Does it have harrison Ford in it ...[text shortened]... thoughts on this. I think francis ford copola is a far better director than lucas will ever be.
Afraid? No, not quite the word I'm looking for.
In September there will be a 3 boxed set of "A new hope", "Empire strikes back" and "Return of the Jedi" on DVD. It will, presumably, only be sold as a complete package. It will be the special editions with a little more cleaning done to them. It will cost 150 euros.
I love all the star wars movies. I even liked "A phantom menace". I never like children in films, nor hobbits, but besides that, I thought it was really good.
Attack of the clones was far better than it was given credit for.
You can see Anakin slip to the dark side, The emperor's plans start to unfold and Palpatine seize control in a very recognisable way.
What's surprised me is that there have been very few parallels drawn between ATOC and current day politics. The mere fact that you give the fundaments of democracy away to keep democracy going, etc. etc.
Anyways, I reckon there will only be a wee push and a wee shove in episode 3 to knock Anakin over to the dark side...where he belongs...
And what I really want answered is if Stormtroopers are all clones of one of the best bounty hunters the universe has ever known...how come their aim is bad?

LOL !!!
Probably for the same reason Princess Leia is deadly with her aim!
Or...regarding Stormtroopers as Kevin Smith saw it (edited) -- "You know what else I noticed in Jedi?....They build another Death Star, right?....Now the first one they built was completed and fully operational before the Rebels destroyed it....And the second one was still being built when they blew it up. Compliments of Lando Calrissian. Something just never sat right with me the second time they destroyed it. I could never put my finger on it--something just wasn't right....the thing is, the first Death Star was manned by the Imperial army--stormtroopers, dignitaries--the only people on board were Imperials....So when they blew it up, no prob. Evil is punished....The second time around, it wasn't even finished yet. They were still under construction. A construction job of that magnitude would require a helluva lot more manpower than the Imperial army had to offer. I'll bet there were independent contractors working on that thing: plumbers, aluminum siders, roofers. Not just Imperials....In order to get it built quickly and quietly they'd hire anybody who could do the job. Do you think the average stormtrooper knows how to install a toilet main? All they know is killing and white uniforms....All those innocent contractors hired to do a job were killed--casualties of a war they had nothing to do with. All right, look--you're a roofer, and some juicy government contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in suburbia--this is a government contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with lasers and wipe out everything within a three-mile radius. You didn't ask for that. You have no personal politics. You're just trying to scrape out a living. That never sat right with me."
