Waiting for Grampy Bobby to weigh in.
Most mechanical knee-jerk rejoinders flow from the mouths of those unfortunate,
immature human beings still technically competent but emotionally insecure.
These unfortunate folks are usually more deserving of pity than scorn. Long way
around the old barn to simply suggest it's probably best to "forgive them" even
though they know precisely what they're doing but don't have a clue as to why.

Originally posted by SoothfastThough skeptical of sweeping generalizations as a rule, I'm inclined to agree with your assertion with regard to the passage of time. Whether 70 seconds, 70 minutes or 70 days or weeks, months or years it's damn brief. Brevity so concise, so finite it's not even subject to being measured except as a blip on the temporal screen, miniscule in terms of the absolute scheme.
This applies to all after the passage of 10^7 years, so it really does not matter.
Looks like this: ETERNITY PAST)........................................[time/human history]........................................(ETERNITY FUTURE
Note: ETERNITY parenthesis is reversed to suggest that eternity is wrap-around. encompassing the entire page. No page could be constructed large enough to show even an approximation of eternity and time. Maybe a dot or speck of sand somewhere beyond earth and all known galaxies in a never ending universe might come a tad closer to providing a truer perspective.
Let's politely agree to disagree with your ipso facto conclusion that "it really does not matter". Matters greatly in my point of view, from the standpoint of quality of life and, more importantly, with reference to the ant's temporary vacuous life versus the human being's eternal soul. The soul with its self awareness, self determination, mentality, conscience and volition is the real you. When the body dies the soul and spirit instantly depart (at brain death, not cardio cessation) to a new address for all eternity.
