Read the post, I said I see retards get the everyday. That is far from being an all inclusive statement, espesially when taken incontext, of college students getting them.And tattoos are stupid.

People do lots of dumb things, but this is a tattoo thread. Maybe I will start a " riding a motercycle without a helmet is stupid" thread. Everybody does stupid stuff, I personally find new ways to amaze myself doing stupid stuff. Like trying to balance a 8lb. maul on my chin. I nearly lost my teeth,that was stupid in many peoples book but I was trying to learn a new circus trick for my kids to watch. I dont need to defend why I tried to balance it in the first place. Can you fathom that some people think some actions are stupid?

I think that there are MORE narrow minded followers (stupid) people with tattoos than in the cross section of developed western nations.

Here we go back to the begining. tattoos are used by people to define them. The classic " I got it because (insert idea)" Its suppose to show the world somthing about them we coudn't know without being told. Like membership in a gang or club, or just to show your wild side, even who you "love". Time changes everything, including views. This means views of ones self; the world around you and so on. Displaying a tattoo the express ones views then would make one limited in their oppertunity to represent change. I on the otherhand for comparison still have the ability to like a tattoo, maybe later in life. Tattoos are a form of comunication, and should be subject to the same standards and critisisms our words( spoken or typed) are held to. A racist tattoo tells people what this person believes can we critisize them? I am under a lot of fire for words I typed. I can do this. ***I appologise if I insinuated that all people with tattoos are retarted***

I have six tattoos. Three are related to the fact that I'm proud of being Irish. One commemorates a bad time in my life. Two are a foolish youngster's punk-assery. I used to regret those two, but as I get older they remind me of that foolishness and that I've grown and changed into an older, wiser person.

I was in some way wise even then, because I can wear a shirt and tie and still pull off the professional look, and nobody would guess I was hiding tattoos.

Why are you hiding them if they're such a great, integral part of your life? It's because you know they're stupid and represent an error in judgment. I have more respect for low lifes who show their tattoos always (and as a result usually can't find a job) than hypocrits who go around hiding them. Why hide them? You'd say because "they're not appropriate in all circumstances." My response - then why get them in the first place if you know it's something to be ashamed of? Because you were stupid, and made a mistake - that's why.
