@drewnogal saidBut does the cost of raising them have to come into consideration when setting the purchase price?
You’re talking about selling and I’m talking about the cost of raising one.
Or let’s, to stay on the legal side of things, should the cost of raising them be a factor in the abortion decision? All the money the government pays to parents to look after their kids, should they be giving out free birth control and abortions instead? Maybe abortions are free in the rest of the UK already, we don’t have that fortune in NI.
@trev33 saidWe can still get free sterilisation, contraceptive pills and morning after pills here, and even free condoms via a clinic I believe so abortion as a ‘contraceptive’ is relatively unusual I think but still can be made available on the NHS if medically recommended.

An ‘acquaintance’ of 40, a married mother of 3 was offered an abortion by her GP when she recently discovered herself having an unplanned pregnancy. He thought it an option he should offer her based on his understanding of the family’s history which had encountered few physical and social difficulties related to the children. He may have done this to minimise potential costs to the NHS and social services and or to genuinely help the family. She & her husband recently brought their new little baby home from hospital π
@trev33 saidI do wonder whether some women just like being pregnant because it might be the only time anyone ever, for a short time, offers them a bit of attention and support?

What other way is there to explain why some women intentionally have over 10 children?

@drewnogal saidI think there are also some people who have had very little, who have children in the hope they will then be loved. Having children in the belief you will receive more than you give is a recipe for disaster in my opinion. It feels very sad when you meet pregnant teenagers who feel that there will now be love in their world.

@relentless-red saidI too feel that pregnant teenagers make me concerned and worried. In our culture in Sweden, young mothers can get very lonely because their own families often are not strong and coherent. They tend to get a sad start.

As a father, give your daughter your full appreciation because if you don't, she is likely to fall in love with the first man who gives her his attention.

@drewnogal saidI don’t know who dumbed down your two posts, they seems like perfectly fine questions/statements.

40 is going on the older side of childbirth so I’d say it was a perfectly fine question for the gp to ask, maybe they had thought about it. It’s obviously not ideal but if it is a case of someone not being able to look after a kid by themselves or if they can’t afford it, 100% they should get an abortion if they want to. Often no wrong or right, just personal choices.

@moonbus saidChildren are a gift from the LORD; they are a real blessing. The sons a man has when he is young are like arrows in a soldier's hand. Happy is the man who has many such arrows. He will never be defeated when he meets his enemies in the place of judgment. (Psalms 127:3-5 GNB)
Dunno yet. Ask me again on my deathbed.

@very-rusty saidHe s saying that he does not give a crap about Christianity or religion on the whole, and this is typical of fundamentalist atheists who lack tolerance. Remember this is the same guy who tried to start a distasteful thread, a couple days ago about selling kids and it got deleted.

@rajk999 saidI know Trev for many years. He has been around longer than the date shows that he joined. Lets put it this way he was around here before I was! He loves to stir the pot, people like drama and he doesn't mind giving it to them. NOTE: His THREAD was removed not him! π
