@very-rusty saidI don’t want too take the amphetamine ones unless necessary and even then I would have to think about it as far as damage to the body.
What are the top 3 ADHD medications?
The most popular ADHD medications among ADDitude readers include (in alphabetical order): Adderall XR (amphetamine) Concerta (methylphenidate) Dexedrine (amphetamine)

@mike69 saidSo you know all about the meds used, which is a good thing!

I knew a fellow with ADHD use to drink coffee like it was water. I never knew a man who could drink so much coffee. He claimed it helped with his ADHD.

@very-rusty saidNo, I don’t know anything about them except I don’t want to start with the ones mentioned.

@mike69 saidI would be concerned too if it were me.

@mike69 saidYou more than likely know a lot more about than I do. Do you find coffee helps you?
The son just mentioned is on those off and on and another was for a time when younger and I read some then about the amp ones.

@very-rusty saidNot really unless it’s a lot and I just know how it’s really screwing my life up right now. For the most part I find the spectrum really interesting and strange, with gifts and hardships.

@mike69 saidI know the guy I knew said the coffee helped and he had a part time job. He said he could become very violent if he wasn't on his meds. He also said everyone was different. Different things worked on different people. I never had an issue with him and he was always very nice to me.

@very-rusty saidWhen we started talking about energy drinks yesterday I slammed one and drank three large cups of coffee all the way to bed time along with probably around 6 cans of coke. I’m actually on the quiet side, calm and nice to people as my normal nature goes. At this time with everything going on if someone screws with me I set off pretty quickly as with anyone would under tons of stress and the things going on in my life right now. I can’t answer on the med thing as I’ve only been on a low dose for four days.

@mike69 saidI am thinking your meds haven't cut in yet but don't know your dosage or anything so this is just a wild guess on my part. The guy I knew said his meds took a while to work and they had to play with them and try different dosages. He was a very nice guy to me but I sure wouldn't want to see him get upset as he was a good sized guy. He didn't talk to many people. Myself and my better half he seemed to take a liking to, and told us a lot of personal stuff, was very open. Like you if someone screwed with him it would set him off is exactly the way he put it. Just give the meds time to kick in I would say is about all you can do.

@very-rusty saidI’m not sure, just a thought is that with anger maybe neurotypical people don’t get as angry maybe rather than from 0 to 100 almost instantly in some situations ( also don’t know if all people that are on the spectrum are like that so who knows). Most people with Asperger’s are very honest and open with personal things, it’s a big issue with it. For me, I also don’t mind because it does come with hardships. If talking about myself on anything about it can maybe help someone else with it or feel better than that’s a positive thing from having it. Also maybe some things are learned from conversations to help us and people who don’t have it also understand more. 99% of neurotypical people don’t know or understand anything about it yet judge us when just being us as others are as well so understanding and knowledge are needed also.
