@the-gravedigger saidWell, though you may not be aware of this, the Tavern has always had “hanging” everything (food and drink) since it’s inception.π€π²π
Great idea.
I would love to eat and drink for free.

@torunn saidAnd feeding hungry people is a wonderful thing, Torunn.

Is this something for the Tavern:
"There is a little coffee shop, where two people arrive and approached the counter.
“Five coffees βοΈplease. Two for us and three hanging.”
They paid, they took their two coffees and left.
I asked the waiter. "What’s this about hanging coffees?"
“Wait and you'll see."
Some more people came in.
Two girls asked for a coff ...[text shortened]... here we live?
Small kindnesses like this can impact so many lives, in ways we could never imagine."
Be prepared, however, for the street population to swell.
@earl-of-trumps saidWe always keep a spare supply for you, Earl.
@Great-Big-Stees
Ahhh. Is my Sam Adams hanging?? OMG, I hope not π
@earl-of-trumps saidAlthough not a particularly “popular” brand at the Tavern, as you well know, we do carry all varieties. Here you go Earl, enjoy. We do carry a beer (red IPA) called Hanging Oak. Care to give it a go?π€π

It is popular at Starbucks, for instance, in the US.
@torunn saidMy wife and I went into a restaurant and “bumped into” a couple who happened to be a couple I deliver meds to. We chatted a bit and they left. When we had finished our meal I asked for the check and was told that it had been “taken care of”. When next I saw them I thanked them saying they didn’t have to do that to which they responded, “ Just pay it forward”. We did.π
Great idea, wonder if it would work in Gothenburg? I could ask, it would have to be a place where people without money dare to go.
@great-big-stees saidWell done. I was thinking of people who can't afford a meal, I will forward the idea - maybe it is already being done?

@torunn saidWhen it comes to folks who are less fortunate that we are I say, “There but for the grace…” and we contribute what we can.

Anywho...
We can see the good in such programs as "Pay it forward", but can anyone see the harm? I remember we all thought
it was great to accommodate the homeless back in the 1980's. And that good treatment caused the problem
to grow like a mushroom cloud and lead to the homeless crisis we have today.
