I, personally, don't buy into the sour-grapes argument, "If everyone is special, then no one is special."

That argument had to be invented by a narcissist who didn't appreciate not being seen as the only "special" person. Everyone is special in their own way. We all have something to offer a community. The narcissist is the one trying to shut down others' specialness so he appears to be the only true special one.

The way I see it, if I go around telling all the ladies they are special, then I am not being quite truthful as only one can be "The Special One"! 🙂 Now if more than one is special then we are getting into a whole new territory.

If someone says in Swedish, "hon är speciell", I would interpret that as meaning that she is odd, and also sometimes she doesn't fit.

To a special person we would add - Du är speciell för mig - you are special to me. Or perhaps Du är mycket speciell - you are very special.
