Things You're Happy About Today

Few of mine include that the left ankle poolside ping pong injury, this past August, is finally beginning to heal; that the NFL point spread coverage/team performance index stats refined from 2008 have begun to provide an equilibrium profile, which is informing my picks in both a Texas and Niagara Falls (Canada) 2009 NFL weekly pool; that California Songbird called last night and softly insisted we stay on the phone; that the time was right for taking a chess sabbatical, even though recent game positions still play around in my forehead at odd hours of the night and day; that I've been very fortunate to make several trusted friends on Red Hot Pawn since July, 2007.

How about a few of yours...

I bought some lovely new noisemakers yesterday.

Also, this weekend is Thanksgiving in Canada and I am very excited to head home to the country and see my family, including my lil sister who is now 5 months along, and pig the eff out.

Thanks. To think, I almost decided to go to Detroit for a Lions game instead. Glad I didn't follow through on that plan.

I'm a lot closer to Detroit than you are and I wouldn't go for that. Oh wait who they playing?

Is this what you're happy about today?? That my team hasn't won in 42 years? Bastard. 😠

You poor, poor man. My heart goes out to you and the rest of your ilk. Now I suppose there's still a glimmer of hope if you just think about how long Boston suffered without a World Series "victory".

Poem infused with a perspective on happiness I've always appreciated...

SALUTATION

"O generation of the thoroughly smug

and thoroughly uncomfortable,

I have seen fisherman picknicking in the sun,

I have seen them with untidy families,

I have seen their smiles full of teeth

and heard ungainly laughter.

And I am happier than you are,

And they were happier than I am;

And the fish swim in the lake

and do not even own clothing."

~Ezra Pound (1885-1972)

Happiness today:

Day off from 1 job (NEVER happens on a Friday)
Strong offer on a house in the second job 🙂
Time to clean house, cook dinner and take a nap.

What could be better?
