I play here just for fun. The avaricious people that play here only to demonstrate they are "good players" -which isnt always the case- should be banned.

As u already know, there are rules... to be respecte ...[text shortened]... to the last, of course.

Oh well. They would get a life, after all.

Hi Rachel!

I love to meet new friends. It isnt only the game.
But I hate the abuse all around this. So, I must to agree with the complaints presented here.

IMHO there are people that is taking the game way too seriously. It seems to me that they take the game as a matter of life or death. Which is pathetic.

Im here to have fun, not to break my life in pieces (pun intended).

After a few months, i think ill retake my games here... and i think ill find my old buddies again (hint hint flexmore πŸ™‚ )

kisses from Julia

I think the lesson is that you need to set your clan challenge default to include a timebank. If you accept 3 day time out challenges without a timebank then you should expect to be timed out if you don't keep up in the games. Sorry.

Your statements make me guess that if you will have the opportunity to timeout skeeter you will do.
It just depends on the guy who you're going to timeout and you know it.
It sounds hypocritical too.

By the way I don't find anything ''pathetic'' in time control in rules of chess.

Yes,I'm a crap palyer but don't like to wait days or weeks to see a move in a game, timeout should be automatic so it would seem more like a rule (and indeed it is) and people wouldn't complain in forums or call ''pathetic'' someone who takes timeouts.

Sorry Ravello...

Take into account that my bad command of english language dont help me to put my ideas in a straight form... πŸ™

After almost 200 wins I have taked only one or two TO... So, its not the case that u r mentioning.

Of course, if u want to call me an hypocrit, go ahead. U never played me. Ask to the people i played. So, ur insult is gratuitous...

oh, and dont tell me that i shouldnt to take offense... u said it with plain words... thats said, u can go to ur own caveats and judgements all over another people. Ill refrain to read ur poor opnions in the future.

But... I agree with u on time out rules.... I think it was clear before, but may be my bad english have oscured the meanning.

I must add (trying to clarify that) that Im playing here for fun, so the strict applications of the rules is simply a matter of sportmanship.
And in spite u can denny that, there are a lot of people that are playing here only to collect points and will sh*t on u at the first ocassion at hand. What is VERY sad....

Michael

Here's a great example of a cynical timeout.

Game 661005

Once i move my bishop to c5 the game is over. I'd already mentioned that i was having trouble getting online to update my games, i arrived the same day as the timeout. -40points off my rating, thanks! Real sportsmanship.

I just realized something. I've read thread after thread about the timeout issue and participated in quite a few, and one of the biggest points made time after time is that it's just a game, the points don't matter, so why do people have to be jerks and time me out?

But yet...it's just a game right? And the points don't matter? People who time an opponent out do it and move on to the next game. People who GET timed out fret about it and come to the forums ticked off about it and there's lots of "I lost this many points" or "I was going to win that game" or "this game was a clear draw".

Yeah, I would say some people need to take their own advice. It's just a game. πŸ˜‰

Good point ncrosby.

For what it's worth I would strongly support switching to automatic timeout. I think it makes much more sense.

I see 'skeeter' bashing is becoming popular again. Lets inject some background into the thread, just for balance.

Little Bear is dark on me because I did take the T/O's as allowed for in the rules. The facts are: both games were subject to 14 day T/O controls: the time between the first game T/O ( after 14 days ) and the second game T/O was 16 days : there was no vacation flag posted : there was no request for an extension : Little Bear is running 6 games : I'm playing 116 !!
Everyone here is aware of my preposity for claiming T/O's so whats the problem? With only 6 games and a 14 day T/O in two of them, if you cannot manage to move in that time frame then the inference is drawn / taken that you dont want to play. And I have a finite answer for that.

David Tebb and Akizy timed me out, 38 secs and 2 mins respectively, after the time control passed, in a couple of tourney matches because I neglected to reset the Time Zone settings for daylight saving. Do you see me grizzling and whinning about it.
Behaviour breeds behaviour so take your issues up with the 'Tebb and / or Akizy. My position on timeouts has never been any different. If opponents have trouble understanding it then perhaps they should consider taking up badminton.
