Just for fun, this one.

I recently had to cancel a subscription. The reason stated - the site is too addictive!!! LOL! What can we do to prevent that???

Any suggestions welcome, sensible, or just plain silly welcome...

i have had it suggested to me that there should be some way of stopping you from playing when drunk. maybe a plug in breathalyser - then some people's ratings might go up a bit!

- even better no posting in forums drunk 🙂

when it detects above a certain level you can no longer play.

i personally could do with something stopping me from moving at certain times, but that is different - maybe a 50 move per day limit

Thats funny, maybe it was a partner that actually cancelled 😀 You could always put a timer on the my settings page so people could activate it if they felt it would ease their addiction, like a nico patch for smokers. I only have two addictions, this site and smoking 😉

Yes my good lady is under the miscomrehention that I am "playing chess" all day, I tried to explain that only about 20% of my time here is actually playing chess, the rest is clan admin, chat, keeping up to date and all that - she just looked at me as if I was the oddest person on the planet.

Friends and family are constantly telling me to get a grip and get away from that damn chess site! I don't have a problem, I'm only here for hours everyday, I could EASILY go down to say an hour or two, easy as pie. I'm not addicted, no way, uh uh. 😉

One of my friends said that for Christmas he was going to start a chessanonymous group for me.

Wait until I have finished the new RHP Live v2 code I am working on now (which is coming on OK). Then between moves, rather than getting up to bathe/eat/talk to wife or whatever you might do now, you can play EVEN MORE CHESS!!! 😲

RHP is certainly addictive.
Cigarettes come with warning labels . . . maybe RHP should too?

RED HOT PAWN SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE ADDICTIVE

Or maybe you should only supply such warnings if the government forces you 😉

There's nothing wrong about something being addictive.... well there isn't with a chess site.😕

Russ, this might come under just plain silly, but your post highlights some topics:
You cancelled a subscription but you are silent about if the subscriber was the one who backed out like Brittany getting married and wanting it annuled as soon as she woke up and you refunded. Are we right to conclude you found some wrong doing and you escorted that person off the site?If so.Lets have the gos.It is unfair if you don't share.

No, someone played for a few months, then wanted out. As simple as that.
