I drive cars until they have their first big problem, then sell it and get a new one.

How often do you change?

Every 3-4 years on average; although my wife kept her last one for 8 years.

A long time ago my eldest brother bought an NSU.

He said it stood for NO SHAGGING USE.

The car gave a lot of trouble, he had it less than
a year before he got rid of it.
NSU is the shortcut for Necharsulm as any decent chap knows 🙂 They were bought by AUDI becoming Audi-NSU first and then the name vanished but the "Prinz" and the TT were wonderful cars.

Why?

Sorry, it makes no sense to me. Cars are a necessity here, but a total waste of perfectly good monies.

Mr. Crowley, won't you ride my white horse?
Mr. Crowley, it's symbolic, of course.

Love the Volvo, and it will love you back.

Our newer car: 1996 Lexus ES 300: 190,000 miles. Purchased ~1999 from my daughter.
Our old car: 1989 Volvo 240: 260,000 miles. Purchased new. Local drives only.

Previous: More or less in order of the year owned,
1989 BMW 635 CSI (our guilty pleasure, expensive to maintain. Also cramped.)
1982 Mazda RX-7 (mine) Fun. Leaky moon roof. No good for a wife and 15 year old.
1982 VW Scirocco (wife's} Fun. Cramped for a tall guy.
1974 VW Karmann Ghia (wife's, fun, wrecked by the next owner.)
1969 VW bus (mine) Purchased from my brother in 1979. Good for hauling. Not so much for dating.
1968 Dodge 440 Coronet coupe (mine) Worst of them all. Terrible brakes. Kind of sexy, though.
1965 Chevy Nova 4D (mine) Next to the Volvo, most dependable. I miss it.
1963 Chevy Biscayne (mine) Spacious. Great for dates.
~1959 Mercedes 220 (wife's) She bought it to drive to California.

Note: No 1970's US cars. It was terrible decade for them.

Yours? I'm curious.

I drove an old Opel Record that I bought off my old man from 1998, then in 2007 got a new Toyota Avanza, because we started a family.
2 cars total.

I have no emotional, or any other for that matter, connection to cars.
They take my family and I from A to B.
As long as they keep me dry in the rain and have a working air-con, It's the perfect car for me.

I steal 'em and part them out.

Kid! I kid! Swapping plates lets me sell them whole.

Kidding again!

No, not unless you want to, it just means "I roll". I said it because I seldom get the opportunity to speak Swedish on this site and I like my language. 🙂

So do I, but I was hoping it meant 'King of the Jaguars', 'I Roll' is cool too, but 'I Rock' would have been cooler.🙂

I seem to have started something here.
I learned to drive in a VW Golf....1981.

Apart from a Ford Fiesta, all the cars I owned were German.

I had a loan of a Daihatsu Charade once....had it for about 2 weeks.

The word Lovely was embroidered into the two front seats and the car was small
and white. It reminded me of a freezer. My daughter would never sit in it.
She said it was embarrassing.

Another car I had a loan of was a Fiat Cinquacento.
Small and red , brakes were terrible, had to leave lots of room
between me and the car in front.

Ford Econoline. I was taught to drive so my parents could sleep in while others got their morning paper. Thx, mom.
