damn it. I was expecting a play of weirds from this thread. or fighting weirds at least.
I am very disappointed in you.
Originally posted by coquetteHi Coquette, I sorry about the mis-spelling of your name on my lst post, but this site doesn't allow ya to go back and look without losing whatcha typed! The ploy works on members too! I've got a "game", if ya cn call it that, with a little prick who took my "Open invite where I specifically ask for fast play" and promptly lost his queen, rook, and knight to my two pawns, then said he's gotta go, and quit!! No resign which would have been the polite thing to do, he just went! where does that leave ME??? I've never claimed a game from time-out before, so what happens??? Do I get the same points as for a won game??? I almost cancelled his game early when I saw how low he was rated! My rating will probably go down even winning the game, let alone if I ever forget and lose one for the reasons you say! Hell, Two of the games I lost were lost due to play interruption exactly as you show in your post! I was ahead, then play went to hell and before I knew it I was down two pieces due to just not being careful when I get the notice he's back for another move in three days! I was taught to always be polite and respectful to my opponents, regardless of provocation, but chess has obviously gone downhill in the thirty years I was away from it!!
[b]It is a form of manipulation that works with non-subscribers. As the non-subscribers can only play a maximum of 6 games, then slugging the play to the slowest possible pace leaves them either extremely frustrated or experiencing a complete loss of connectedness to their games and play. They then forget (or neglect) to log in, largely from a loss of interest. Guess what? They lose on time and the manipulator picks up the win. "Shortened text"
Gary,
As frustrating as it may seem to you, this the nature of correspondence chess. If I were you I would follow the advice already given, and play games with little or no time bank. If you are looking to play complete games all at once, might I suggest you try the bilitz logo in the upper right hand corner of the page, that may be what you are looking for.
Best of Luck,

Hi. I wonder if I'm the only one who notices this pattern or not!
I usually ask for "Fast Play! One game one day" for my open game names. It works fairly well with most playing at LEAST 6-8 moves/day UNTIL!!! I get an advantage, taking a major player for a small one, or are about ready to checkmate! THEN the damn rate of play instantly goes to t ...[text shortened]... e the people on here so rude as compared to people in regular clubs???

If you don't like the time controls, don't agree to them. It's not as if you have to wait by your PC whilst they move, you are free to go and do what you feel.
Start another game, you have a star.

If it's half move from checkmate then it's practically finished so you can just start another game, and mate the working guy whenever he moves next.
If you want 30 minute games, you are on the wrong site, try www.uchess.com.
Also, I'd get somebody who knows about computers to have a look at your pc. I've never heard of a virus which stops you from installing a new operating system (possibly on a new hard drive), and trying to access your old files. They may not be totally lost.

Originally posted by RagnorakI'd like to thank all you guys who essentially gave the best advise, which was Tough Sh**, it's a ploy where undeserving people get a few games they wouldn't have, but it's not worth the time to police it out!! Just for info, I have been using the 1-0 option for time-outs since I started! The one game I have going with 3-7 I forgot to look and I just go there when he surprises me and moves! tHE DEAL with my computer is I got an e-mail supposedly from a software outlet I had just purchased a program from! It said they were banging my credit card for the second year of service!!! Even though I had just received the software the week before!! As you can tell from my posts I DO NOT have the personality to suffer this affront to my manhood in silence or aquiesense (SP)!! So I wrote my scorchingly hot vituperative response and, THE INSTANT I HIT "ENTER" MY COMPUTER WENT DEAD!!!! I mean locked up, keyboard and mouse dead, DEAD!! I reboot, which means I got a kick in my ass cuz da computer acts as if it's saying, "Operating system, whassa dat??" SO! I'm smart, right?? Don't answer! I don' wanna here it!! I reload the entire operating system whereupon it tells me the FAT is in da fire!! And it's gonna destroy every file it even sniffs at while re-loading my operating system!! I do it anyway!! IT STILL DOESN'T EVEN KNOW IT"S ALIVE!!! Well, SH**! I yank (or Rebel, I don' care) the bios, and hard drive outa another P4 a friend of mine has and stick in the new bios!! After running set-up IT WORKS!!!! It now boots up on HIS hard drive with mine as a slave unit!! I look in the "my computer" section and guess what?? There's NO SLAVE DRIVE ON THE entire system!!!! I look and check to see that the cables and power is hooked up and it is, I check the lil' red stripe to be sure the cables are facing the right way and they are!!!! So I take it to a friend of mine who has software HE licenses to the CIA for reading encrypted hard drives that bursts through firewalls as if they arent even there!! He says that whatever I got did, as it's last task, a "Low Level Format" and my twenty years of info is now gone!!! SO! "Thanks for the memories" (How'm I doin' on da word play, guy) Seriously, thanks for the advice, and I defy the little brats to knock me outa here!!
