Marcus Garvey/Garvey's Ghost by Burning Spear (dub classic)
or anything by Godspeed You Black Emperor
I can vouch for Orange. I've listened to that CD at least once a month for the past ten years.

I am Sam - The soundtrack.

An album full of brilliant Beatle covers. Check out Nick Cave singing "Let it be"! Classic...

Indeed. I started listening to Oberst in the Summer of 2000, shortly after the release of 'Fevers and Mirrors'. Don't despair, although your preferences are derivative, they track quality, and that is rare.

BTW, NPR has a streaming concert of Bright Eyes in their archives right now, and it's quite good.
Cool, I'll give it a look.

Oh, Starrman, try 'Castaways and Cutouts' by the Decemberists.

Yeah, the Decemberists' new album 'Picaresque' is amazing. Here's a recent in-studio performance:

jack johnson - on and on

Melodic surfer dude guitarist from Hawaii.

Inspired by the likes of G-love, Radiohead, Hendrix, Dylan, The Beatles, Tribe Called Quest, Nick Drake.

Why am I cribbing this from the bio page on his site? I dunno, here's the link instead so you can read it all!!!

edit - must remember to post link next time...

Puts me in the mind of summers spent listening to Dodgy about 10 years ago...

Dj Krush is a dude! Seen him twice. Love the tracks on Milight - many of which are mixed up on Holonic (great Mix Album).

Shin-Sekai and Real are my faves, but they contrast with Candle Chant (off Zen) which is brilliant.

i'm listening to some German music right now: An Einsturzende Neubauten compilation called Strategies Against Architecture III. Not as abrasive as their earlier stuff but still innovative...recommended

Excellent choice!

Haven't heard it in ages. 🙁
