Also, she will be the shortest of her hormone injected peers!
Just a thought.

Ok, so I have chosen to eat organic foods as much as possible. Not killing myself to do it but I try very hard to keep the food I eat as close to natural form as I can. I just started this recently and it shows in my wallet :'(. Everything I read now has something artificial in it and I go, "well, can't eat that anymore." I eat reasonably healthy anyway ...[text shortened]... Is this only a real challenge here in the US as I think it to be? Does anyone care 😛?
You (and your wallet) would probably be better off shopping around the farmer's markets in your area. You can talk to the growers directly and you'd probably find that a good number of them use organic growing practices even though they haven't gone through the bureaucracy of becoming "certified organic". It's cheaper, often healthier and supports local agriculture rather than corporate farms that ship unripe produce all over the country.

Also, beware of being lulled by "cage free" and other marketing crap like that. It doesn't mean what most people picture. If you're interested, check out The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. It's an excellent, interesting read and definitely gives you a new understanding of where your food comes from.

Organic foods are way too hyped. Grow your foods naturally, in summertime. Go for volume. Harvest and preserve for winter. Buy only what yoiu need to make it to next summer. Keep things simple. Enjoy the fruits of your summer labor. Shop smart, organic or not. Keep the basic food groups in mind, Happy shopping and eating!

I only ever eat 'real' free range meat, poultry and eggs. Organic as long as it tastes better and is not silly priced. Generally always buy thre best food I can afford from the best outlets. Never eat pre-prepared packet crap except for the occaisional curry (obviously!).

My sister has a farm and raises her own pigs - omg they are delicious.....
