I worked in the Cayman Islands for about 10 yrs. Great place to save money. Strong currency, high SOL, no income tax, great weather, beautiful beaches. Whats your profession? I was an accountant, earned about $160K US a year tax free. The lowest paid job should get you about $30K US. Much the same will apply to other small islands in the Caribbean, which are tax havens. I wont recommend Cuba. Been there a few times and its great for a vacation, not for working.

Edit: Chef? Yep .. is say you will have an easy time getting a job there and get a decent salary. Lots of expats there, nobody cooks and lots of restaurants.

That's because most people don't get to use it. Most people are forced to go Private because of lack of availability of NHS facilities.

It's a lovely place. I have already called The Lady Chablis, one of Savannah's most prominent residents, and told her to be on the lookout for you. She would be happy to assist you in any way.

Well, if you're considering the States, but you hate the weather you're already experiencing, that rules out about two-thirds of the U.S.. Disliking the people you're dealing with knocks out about six or seven more states. Being overcharged puts Florida, California and Nevada out of the running.

That pretty much leaves Georgia, specifically Savannah. Gorgeous city with plenty of antebellum architecture and great people.
Savannah, Ga and Charleston, SC are always voted the most polite place to live in America.

Not reasonable, easy access.

Getting an appointment to see my local GP is like a lottery. If you want to book an appointment it HAS to be at least 2 weeks away. If you want an appointment within 2 weeks you have to call up on the day you want to see the GP between 08:30 and 09:00 and book it then.

Which is great because as soon as their phone lines open at 08:30 they're almost constantly engaged, so it's pure chance if you call at the right moment and get through to someone.

It's almost as much fun as trying to find an NHS dentist!
