I had just driven past a small airfield and was thinking of Biggles planes.
So plane, field, flying level shows on an altimeter and I turned that into a level playing field, one of those mindworm phrases.
@kewpie saidAh that’s what confused me; an altimeter is used for measuring a aircraft’s height not it’s level ie. Flat or climbing. I suppose level could be height as in level above ground. I had level and being flat as in spirit level 🙄
