@handyandy saidI got relatives live in Boston Massachusetts...I thought you may live close to them. Biggest braggers I've ever come across, and yes I've told them to their faces. You have a boat they have a bigger one. A car they have a faster one etc, etc., I think you get the idea.
No.

@very-rusty saidMeh.
You sound like a New Yorker but the question was directed to Earl. It isn't all about you trev33! 😛 😉

@Trev33
Loved hitching round Europe as a kid. I remember being away for about six weeks. Visited six countries. Universally generous. Bought drinks and dinner on a couple of occasions. Even offered a bed for the night in Belgium. Based on Northern Italy in the late 70s, the poorer the people the greater the generosity.
So we're just back in the UK hitching on a roundabout by Portsmouth harbour, probably just ten minutes in and somebody winds down their window and shouts "Fokk off scroungers". We knew we were home.

@relentless-red saidWhat a shame that your experiences of living in the UK your entire life have formed in your mind this bitter and pin-holed perspective of our wonderful collection of nations.

@divegeester saidTo be honest it just effected my perspective of southerners, but I was being polite. 😉

@relentless-red saidThe people of Portsmouth and Portsea Island are hardworking, community orientated, sharing a loyalty for the distinguished seafaring history of their town and they are passionate about Portsmouth Football Club. They are hospitable and proud of their history and local culture. I know the area very well.

I suspect that a different perspective of your youthful account from the 1970s might reveal a group of arrogant Scouse football fans, replete with the pride of Liverpool’s contemporary success, wandering through their town being rather ... scousy and well deserving of a bit of verbal.
Knowing you to be the pompous opinionated blowhard you are today I would suggest that you should look favourably on escaping those Pompey fans with your teeth still intact.
