I have been playing on this site for a while now and there are a couple of childish behaviors I find quite annoying. I think it would be more positive hence more fun to play here if we got rid of those.
1.NEVER RESIGN
This is just ridiculous. It is ok to play on when there is still a fair chance your opponent might fall for some tactics but playing on in a totally lost position is just waste of good time and energy for both players. And here such a game can go on for months… RESIGN
2.DIFFERENT MOVE RATES
Some people play very fast in the beginning and then suddenly they only move in one of the games. And it it always the one where the stand worse!. Of cause some positions are harder to play and of cause, for different reasons, one would like to take a closer look at one of the positions and therefore delay that game. When it is a tournament or a clan game this tend to be “resultplay” as “they” wants to see what happens in the “worse” games before deciding what to play for in the “better” game... Stop it!
3.RATING BOOSTERS AND DROPPERS
I’m playing one now whom I have been playing before. At the momemt his rating is about 1950 or so but he plays more like 1700. His “Trick” is to play lots and lots of games (here about 250) and whenever he realize that a game is lost, he just stalls that game for as long as possible. Then his rating will be higher for a period of time (which might be quite long here). When the time comes that he can’t delay anymore he will resign all his games and be down to 1000 again. Because of the rating system this also means that in almost all of his lost games, his opponents won't get there deserved gain in rating. This time I asked before the games if he would continue or stall because otherwise I would stall from the beginning. Now when he is mate in few in both games he stalls and they are 21 days timeout so it will take about 3 months :-(. What a beeeeeep.
IN SHORT
My request is that people behave decent like most of the players in here do actually do.
Everything you've pointed out is what I've experienced in all of my games, for one reason or another. I'll dispute the "Resign when you know you've lost" point because I've had the occasion to draw out a game when I'm a piece down to near the end in the oft chance that the other guy screws up in the endgame, then i try to hammer him or her. If it is totally lost (or I know the guy knows exactly what he or she is doing on the chessboard) then I resign. It's a subjective and a playing style question. It's annoying sometimes when it is done to me, but I look at it as an exercise in checkmating. If I can't checkmate the guy in a won game, then I don't deserve to win!
As for the move rate, simply enter games with short time controls and timebanks, so that you can reduce the number of times this happens to you.
As for the ratings guys, there's not much you can do, other than doing research on the player before accepting non-tourney or non-clan games, and setting short time controls and timebanks.
You can't prevent people from doing everything you want them not to do. It's just a matter of trying to prevent these things from occurring in the first place. And avoiding those players who piss you off the first time around.
I must be too easy going.. nothing ever bugs me .. stallers.. never resigning.. .. nothing except my own bonehead moves. (man I curse that.. luckily I don't break my computer after some moves!)
if they don't resign.. then I can practice my mating moves.. (umm.. not the ones in the bedroom).. if they stall.. I can concentrate on current games.. ).. .. for the other.. well.. I can see that being annoying, but.. oh well.. its just a rating

Of cause we can't prevent people from behaving like jerks, but it sure would be nice if we could :-).

The guy irritates half the site with behaviours like the one you explained above.
The only thing you can do is avoid to play him.

If they are clan games talk to your clan leader.
XanthosNZ - It seems I did that just a little to late 😕

2.DIFFERENT MOVE RATESI sometimes do this, it is because if you are behind (or ahead for that matter) in a game it is normally clear what you need to do. The hardest positions to find good moves in tend to be dead level ones because your position has no pressing weaknesses, so you can't try to improve there, and neither does your opponent's so it's hard work attacking.
Some people play very fast in the beginning and then suddenly they only move in one of the games. And it it always the one where the stand worse!.
I'm with you on the other 2 points though, especially the resigning one, although what constutes hopeless is up for debate - not resigning but playing quickly is ok.
so great, i come online today, and find two messages from this jerk, and im sitting here, like what, now??? Because i made one move against one opponent in two days because ive been really busy, your giving me sh** i have a full timebank against you, and because i dont move against you every hour, makes you freakout, your immature, and stup*d, grow up, play your damn games, i have almost 200 games waiting, ill get to you when you deserve it!
And Ravello, shut up, i havent done garbage to you, lets see you handle the amount of games i have, juggle school, business, job, and life, and always move everyday! Thanks
Not saying I cant, just saying that sometimes i cant move everyday, im not going to get timedout, so who cares!!

My point with this thread wasn't to point you out. but to see if I were the only one who dislike all the mentionen behaviors. And then hopefully make people aware of how ther behavior on the site can make things more positive and negative. Another sideeffect is of cause that I can point out to you that you annoy people when you manage your games like you do! Should we play all games to mate with use of the maximum timebankuse when it's a forced mate, just so you can keep a higher rating for some time?. You really think thats fun for anyone? I would wery much like to hear your poinion on those questions. Regards.
