Get ceders in here to discuss what he likes about it.
What attracted me was the similarity to the Dutch Defence with black. I have played the Dutch for quite a while now, and it suits me very well, so I thought I'd give the Bird a try, too. Another advantage is that very likely your opponent won't be very familiar with it.

If ...e5 ...d6, don't take the second gambit pawn. Unless, of course, you expect divine intervention
Ehm....
In the From countergambit, white can equalise or win but you should play very carefully.
In the Yugoslavian small encyclopaedia (ECO A02), the very few variations they give are = or complex.
I played it sometimes (e.g. Lasker variation 1. f4 e5 2. fxe5 d6 3. exd6 Bxd6 4. Nf3 g5) and I managed to get good results.
Nevertheless, it's very special and difficult.
When I play f4, I expect rather d5 and a kind of reversed Dutch defense.
After 1. ... e5, when I'm lazy, I hit directly 2. e5 and transpose to the King's gambit.

GG
the closest thing to a bird system is dutch stonewall reversed
with f4,Nf3,e3,d4,Bd3 and maybe c3 if they push with c5
the only thing bad about this opening is having the hole on e4
if you want to attack the center try and push e4 and or c4
if you want to attack there king castle and do QE1 then Qh4 and maybe even push g4 and attack there king with everything you got
😀😀

What is exactly the point and what are the plusses of it ?
if your interested, let me know and i'll pop it onto my website and you'll have a rather large, and strong bird system database.
