Why the long variations? Simple counting here shows us that black needs 3 moves to promote while white needs at least six. This is won for black no matter where he moves. With white to move its still won for black!

one pawn will be swapped off, leaving just one white pawn with a theoretical win for black.

white moves first: 1.Kf7 g6
2.hxg6 hxg6
3.Kxg6 a3
4.Kf7 a2 +-

if black can win with white to move, winning with the move is trivial


tougher but still winning is 1.Kf7 g6
2.h6 a3
3.Kg7 a2
4.Kxh7 a1Q
5.Kxg6 Qh8
6.h7 Kc4! and any white move will lose a pawn

1...a3, if white goes after black pawns with king, black will continue to push the a pawn and promote. if white pushes one of his own, then yes OF COURSE we are going to take a move and capture the pawn. black wins with queen on a1 against two pawns on the fifth.

I think a3 is a draw, white K rounds up the black pawns and takes position on the h file, once his pawn is on the 6th rank, its a draw, black will have to sacrifice its queen to avoid white from queening.

sorry, i was looking at a long line with Qb1 instead of Qe5. i had to use a computer to finish line and your right, looks like black has nothing more than a draw after h6??. thanks for including that line, otherwise i would have missed it.
