My post refers to his style of play, not the quality of being able to make positional judgements based on playing strength.

One can tell by the player's moves if they play for attack (tactical) or try to play positional chess. He's more comfortable trying to play positional chess, so that's why he will do better with positional openings like 1.d4 followed by 2.c4 (Queen's Pawn) or even 1.c4 (English).
