You could also play two different people, and it would be no different than if they had played each other. Assuming there's no time-out situation, you'd be guaranteed 1 point from the two games.
I think someone tried this already. Eventually he was banned for computer use but I don't know if this stunt was a factor.
edit.. ok thankyou varenka
That wouldn't work because once the higher rated player realized what you were doing he could just not play white until your game as white would get timed out. Of course the higher players game as white would almost get timed out but once you are forced to move in your game as white he could the do a better move in his game as white and you wouldn't be able to copy it b/c you would have been forced to make a move in your game as white(b/c u would get timed out if you didn't)
Originally posted by ih8senshe can also just wait, your clock will run out sooner and force you to move first.
It wouldn't matter what your higher rated opponent did though.. you'd just mirror him in the OTHER game... wait for him to move in the other game (whether a good move or bad) and play it in the first game... there's no 'setting someone up'
it might be against the rules though.. i certainly hope so.

to be honest, it is a nice idea but it is cheating as you''ve had assistance in your moves and if caught the RHP POLICE will be knocking at your virtual door.... nice idea though

and maybe if i'm lucky someone will make a movie about me! 😀
Originally posted by ih8sensSounds like a great idea man. Why don't you try this OTB against a chess boxer? 😞
Start two games with opposite colours against a higher rated opponent and just mirror every move they make, thereby getting either two draws, or a win and a loss which helps your rating either way?
Edit - This opportunity would present itself fairly regularly in clan games and tournaments in fact. I'm sure (if it's possible) that this happens fairly often. Seems like a good strategic idea.
