I am a mediocre chess player rated 1394 in this site. But I have won three players rated 2000 points or more while playing blitz chess:

Opponent rated 2029:

Opponent rated 2061:

The more recent win today against an opponent rated 2003:

Any other examples of Davids killing giant Goliaths?

Why did you not take his bishop on your 28th move instead of moving your king away?

28.Kxf2 Qc5+ and Qxc7 - maybe that would have been better than what I played but I'm definitely in trouble after Bxf2+. Also 19.d5 was probably a mistake - no need to open the position for the bishops just yet.

Do you think any of the ones you've beat in blitzes use engines in their Correspondance games?

This is one possibility. But most likely it just reflects the fact that some good correspondence players are not good blitz players. It remains curious, nevertheless, that people who excel in correspondence would loose to a player rated more than 600 points lower.

I doubt the difference can legitimately be that large. Maybe from bullet to cc but not from normal blitz. Note: Not that they shouldn't lose but the frequency you describe means that some of them are definitely cheaters. It would be too much of a coincidence that you just happened to be the one they all dropped their occasional game to.

Man, even I would not fall to these trap, And I was thinking you were playing versus 1000... not 2000...

Surprise.

Good thing.

Hope you did not pay them.

Remember blitz is a different skill set from cc, and if these guys are anything like me, the unrated blitz room is a great place to get a chess fix when I'm tired and don't want to blunder in my cc games. Or after a few fermented grains?

Chess is chess. I'll give you the drinking excuse but 600 points? Its still too coincidental, plus 2000+ players aren't the only ones who drink and get tired.

"Mike Perkins" was a 2091 player. While not a good game it does show up differences in sight of the board.

Don't know why I have the extra boards. Last board works fine.
