The "*" symbol means multiplication, it is not a power symbol. "^" is the power symbol. What he wrote is correct, he just skipped a step and instead of writting 3^2 he wrote 3*3.

What I want to know is why (and how) do you name yourself after a person not knowing his greatest theorem, how did you come across the name Pythagoras?
In a right angled triangle A²+B²=C² where A and B are the shorter sides (the ones in contact with the right angle). C is the longest side.

You sympathize with her because you probably don't know math yourself. If you did, you would understand what the other people are trying to say in this post. But what can I expect.
And it seems to me that I, along with several other individuals, were much more helpful than you. She went to the library to learn the pythagorian theorem because of us. What did you help her with. Perhaps if she reads your profile she can learn about the wonders of Oregon, alcohol, and baseball. All very important.
