a game of chess consist of
1 * chess board (could be a virtual board)
2 * kings
2 * queens
4 * bishops
4 * knights
4 * rooks
16 * pawns
1 * chess clock (optional)
2 * players
Anything else used is aditional resources.
How about knowledge inside the human brain? You didn't list that. I guess that disqualifies us all from playing.
Originally posted by CenterNutThat doesn't make any sense. I don't know about you, but I have some games running all the time, which means I wouldn't be allowed to read any books or databases, because I might accidentally read something which relates to one of my games.
I said nothing about learning opening theory or openings but using them during the game = aditional resouces.
None of you use db's or opening books but yet you defend it like the holy grail.
And who said none of us uses databases or opening books? I certainly do. If you don't like it, don't play me.

Anyway ChessNut, the site has its rules, and those include players can use databases and books. Therefore, people who play on this site, and use databases or books are following the rules, so they are not cheating. If you don't like the site's rules, perhaps you should stick with playing OTB, there you can enforce whatever rules you want. By the way, even if the site forbade the use of databases, there is no way to enforce that, or any other rule regarding your external resources. It's all based on the honors system. I don't use books, or databases, because I am lazy, and I don't take the games that seriously. I just want to enjoy myself, and hopefully I'll learn something from my opponents' moves. If they are using an engine, and they tear me limb from limb, then hopefully I will learn something from the moves the engine has made against me. Obviously, I'd rather play a person than an engine, but if I am ignorant about playing an engine, I am enjoying myself just the same.

You will always have trouble arguing with the pedantic if you make claims that are weakly supported. The fault is yours for being too lazy to justify your position properly.
Fischer vs Spassky.
Nurses and doctors standing by with defibulators in case of a heart attack.
Wheel Chair's also at standby.
Games may be suspended for the players to have their afternoon naps.
Of course Fischer will have his usual demands, like someone to cut his meat in small pieces so he can eat them.
and a place to put his cane while playing, etc
Hey chessnut why dont you leave this site? hmmm cause this is a correspondence site you know and alot of people will use databases and things during their game. I mean if you dont like people doing that then leave and play some real time chess on the internet. Also how did your mindless dribble get all the way into this thread of which has nothing to do with your so called cheating accusations? I hope Fischer returns to the chess scene I want to see if he still knows how to play after all of these years.
Originally posted by viryeahWeak when compared to Fischer. Spassky's only rated 2548 FIDE now. Fischer trounced him in their last match. A rematch between the two would be completely uninteresting. It's time for Fischer to play someone stronger!
!?! weak like Spassky !?!
But Fischer is too cowardly to go for it...
