Weak when compared to Fischer. Spassky's only rated 2548 FIDE now. Fischer trounced him in their last match. A rematch between the two would be completely uninteresting. It's time for Fischer to play someone stronger!
But Fischer is too cowardly to go for it...

Fischer should stay retired and shut his trap. He is a disgrace (as well as weak so who cares how he plays) and gives chess players a bad image.
He did not defend the title, the COWARD! Never forget that.
well, thats not really an answer to the question, do people do it alot on here? just because it makes you say you wont doesnt mean that people arent doing it, and since the average player has a hard time tricking software it would be hard to detect. i just saw mention at the beggining of this thread so i started to wonder.

The ToS says that all of these things are acceptable, except having computer engines analyse games and suggest moves, etc., etc.
So sure, lots of people use additional resources, since that's the nature of correspondence chess. Do lots of people cheat by using engines? Who knows? and more importantly, who cares?

A lot of people tend to give emphasis on his eccentricity and condemn him sometimes because he is a famous and a “legend” in his field. Unfortunately for us who are simply “kibitzers” and not famous enough, so that whatever we say do not get media attention. A lot of other famous personalities like musicians, painters, scientists, movie stars, and so on, have been known also for their temper, and/or “uniqueness in character”. Should Fischer return once more to play whether standard or FR chess, it is likely that some multi-billionaire tycoon out there who loves the game of chess and knows him would sponsor the match like it was in the Montenegro. As for Spassky, he has been a great chess champ too and has made his contribution to the game. I have respect for these Grandmasters. I think to learn from their games and apply them on our own games is most important.
Fischer is his own man..... not to mention he is one of the best ever to play chess. I think he deserves a little more respect than this. He may not be the man he used to... but he is still a legend
Originally posted by krpvksprvI think Fischer is probably mentally ill and that it's damaged his chess talent. But this is a tentative analysis based on only a small amount of knowledge.

I wouldn't call Fischer a "natural" talent. He played and studied chess night and day since he was a youngster. Capablanca would be a "natural" talent. I have read that he didn't even own a chess set and that the only books he studied were on endgames, which he loved.
Incidentally, I don't want Fischer back. His past games were great, but some people die too late.
