The rice question? Is it because there are more Chinese than Japanese?

First, the question could easily be interpreted to mean "per capita" as I interpreted it. Also, the fact that there are more Chinese people does not inherently mean they would eat more rice. I'll bet French people eat more escargot than do Chinese people even in raw numbers,
