It is not the noahs ark trap - that is a black line of the ruy lopez where he wins a bishop. This 'trap' is more commonly referred to as the terrorist attack - there, I said it, you dont see me shying away from controversial opening names.... I have even played it myself on occasion but once players stopped losing pawns or pieces to it I decided that my queen would be better developed later in the game.
Here is the Real Noah's Ark Trap in all it's glory.
The Explorere site tells me. 20 players over 1400-1900 have fallen for it.
Only one player over 1900 has fallen for it. Game 526692
But that was back in 2004. The loser has improved since then.
Funny profile: "So if you use a computer, please let me know. Then
I'll use a computer too."
One way to avoid the trap is 8.c3, setting a trap of your own.
Of course if Black finds 13.Ke6 then you are most likely lost.
Never met 13.Ke6 OTB but have only played this line in skittles games,
Game 5986142
You will be pleased to know nobody on the site has gone for my trap.
It sucks. It could have worked though. You must have faith.

This one was very bad for me. I just could not believe that I fell for it. It was a while back. I know at my level me make stupid blunders but I usually defend well against people playing their Q early. I think it's dumb but people still play Qd8 to h4 on me. What is the proper response? ng1 to f3 ? That is what I play.

You are in Bates Motel no need to ask on here for help.
Me and greenpawn31 (FM graded over 2300 OTB) will answer all
your questions. (and more).
Just waiting on the last under 1400 to join and then off we go.

quite a nifty wee site - it tells me that in the following position.

30 players under 1400 on here have now played 2...g6 and lost
a Rook to 3.Qxe5+.
Could help you prepare for future opponents, also show you
the success ration for an op ...[text shortened]... ful.
Over 830 have fallen for the 'Fried Liver'.
Thank you Russ & Co. for the update.

(Do both players have to be 1400+?)

In the 1400+ setting, GamesExplorer would include all games with players 1400 or more (includes players rated 1900 or more). When you select 1900+, then you get only games for which players were rated 1900 or higher (i.e., this is a subset of the 1400+ games).
This is my interpretation, anyway...
The players grades are changing all the time.
I think, and I'm not 100% sure. That if the game is in the
1400-1900 section then when the game was played both players
were in that category.
For some reason I keep calling the 1400-1900 section the -1400 section.
Don't know why.....Wait.... Yes I do, it's 'cos I'm an idiot.
Never really used databases for opening study as playing the moves GM’s make would just make my middle game play look even worse than it is. It is very interesting to have a look around though. One thing I noticed is that I’m the only person on this site to defend against the English with Nh6 Game 5720654. What are you guys on? Its clearly the best move! 😉
I didn't know that Time for Chess and Red Hot Pawn are the exact same sites, just under different names.
I really like the database. It is very easy to use.

In the game you linked, your error was Ng8 to Nf6. (3 is for white, black is 6), greenpawn caught me on that one not long ago. Same goes for 1 and 8.
Instead I'd suggest g6. White must then retreat his queen, usually to f3 where you can offer an exchange with Qf6. If he takes it, you can use it to develop your knight to f6.
Of course after 3.g6 4.Qf3 you can simply play 4.Nf6 followed by 5.Bg7, then castle kingside.
I think I got all that algebraic notation stuff right, but perhaps not.
