Wouldn't they be better rated then the 1400 stiffs I have if they used a program? Then again, if they all used programs, it might be possible.

I do find it curious how on every other chess site my rating is among the top 20% of players, yet on Yahoo, I'm at the lower 50% of players, and ppl tell me Yahoo is supposed to be easy.

Who ever said that reading 20 chess books should guarantee victory?

If it were the case, then everybody would read 20 chess books, but then if it were the case, there would still be losers, so reading 20 chess books wouldn't do the job.

It reminds me of a newbie who told me once that he was going to play in a tournament and beat everybody. He said all he had to do was "think hard and be careful." I wondered why he thought his opponents wouldn't be doing the same.

If losing turns you off so much, then not only chess, but any kind of competition, is just not something you should be engaging in.

Yeah, that's the attitude. Forget about being in the top 20% on all sites but one, and complain that God screwed you because it's not the case at Yahoo.

You are beyond hope.

I am really getting sick of these threads where you are complaining about losing to "bad players". You study study study, sooo many books and still you lose to 1 move mates and crazy queen forrays.....Sounds like you don't really study these books very well. When people bring out their queen early and start moving it around I laugh and grin devilishly. I find it funny that you are sooo great on other sites and you crumble to the patzers on yahoo. You don't need to study Queen maneuvers, you need to study the game, because there is something wrong with yours.

Yeah, that's what I don't get, I play well on Gameknot, Redhotpawn, Uchess, but some 1400 rater pantzer on Yahoo beats me by moving a queen around. Sheesh, I can't figure it out, what should I do to prevent this from happening? What areas of my game should I study on? Don't say tactics, because that's all I study now, it doesn't stop the blunders.

Take a look at this game for an illustrative way how to handle someone who leads with their Queen: The key: harrass the lady, while developing at the same time!Game 768865

Uh in that game shouldn't 3. Qxe5+ have been played? That's the whole reason (granted a bad reason) for playing Qh5. You hope the guy you are playing decides to chase the queen rather than protect the pawn? Black's second move should be Nc6 to defend the pawn and then after 3.Bc4 g6 (because if someone plays Qh5 they probably think you are dumb enough to miss Qxf7#

Get your rating down on all the places but Yahoo.

Then you'll have fairness.

Do you think I might lose on Yahoo because Yahoo players never resign? Honestly, I haven't had much practice in what to do exactly when you are up, say, a whole rook.

Probably, but if you want to force an early swap of Queens like mateulose says, you just play Qe7. You're down a pawn, but you've got two pieces developed. If he grabs the pawn at c7, Qxe4+ and the situation is reversed: Black's on the attack!!

Typical....Give up before I beat myself...And you wonder why they don't! You come on here and bitch about how bad a player you are, people remember that stuff...I doubt you will ever get a resignation now.

I gotta post this. A morality play on crazy queen forays. It was blitz. I was white. 🙂

I probably missed some brutal combinatorial blow around move 16 just because of the utter bankruptcy of my opponent's position, but the piece and effortless simplification were more than enough....

The tradition continues! LOL! I just lost a game to someone hovering their queen around my the f,g,h files (a glorious thing to do it seems), threating cheapo mates, and I got checkmated by a mating net with a queen and rook, with a rook sac of his. I was up a whole knight, and two pawns, but NOOOOOOOOOO, my king was somehow in danger to simple queen moving and his wasn't. Material rules? Puhhhh, as long as they have the queen, a surplus in material seems quite useless and unadvantgeous for the rest of the game. God I hate the queen, there's no way to get that bugger off the f,g, and h files, where it KILLS you.
