This may seem a silly question, however if i place my opponent in check with a piece. Can that be illiminated by the my opponents king taking my piece? Are there any exceptions.

So for the move to be effective you need to cover the peice that places the king in check. Thanks for those who suggested web sites they are a great help.

Tottot, he wasn't talking to you. He was admonishing the other bloke who was being patronising TO you.

My mistake. I am sorry. I am not use to bulliton board sites i thought your thread was also directed towards me. This is due to the limits on my technological understandings.

The only time i used a bulliton board before was at uni and it was without exception the worst subject i have ever studied. So the bulliton board was used for the absolute minimum, and only to meet the requirements.

My understanding of chess is largely from primary school and then there were rules that were not applied to assist the playing of the game. En passant are new to me, however that is the good thing about life. There is always something new to learn about.

PS your name is actually a good one.

Thanks again to all and i do believe all were intending to assist me.

This is a good site, i am intereted in developing my skills at chess to understand the game.

A recent research paper mentioned chess and afew other games for their benefit to brain activity.

Thanks

I'm glad about that as I'm new and sure to be asking questions that may seem VERY basic. There is a whole other vocabulary to learn!
