yeah apparently a huge cheer went up, it was some game, Aronian finding the only real
killer move ...Qc5 and McShane battling on for the life of him. It was excellent to see
the grandmasters trying to work out what was going on, half the time they had no idea,
Daniel King is a gentleman and Nigel short a first class jester of legendary proport ...[text shortened]... Trent looks like he wants to
sell you a fake rolex, David Howell and Chris Ward were awesome.
The play has been brilliant, and especially creative, by almost everyone *coughs Anand coughs*
May the creativity continue!

Can't wait for tomorrows games. I really wish McShane would have taken that game against Aronian he missed a chance to simplify into a pawns vs bishop ending that would have given him the edge... it was hard to calculate though I'm sure he looked at it. I'll try to find the game score and give the variation they showed while the game was in progresss
Originally posted by tomtom232I've been too busy to keep up with this, but I'd love to download the games as a pgn, preferably with a commentary to enjoy them over the Xmas break. Does anyone know where is best to download them? As one file would be better.

Originally posted by Dewi JonesYou can only do this if you have a playchess account (following live that is) but if you're going to do that then you should just follow the official commentary, which is exceptional!
I'd like to be able to follow it in fritz, round by round as a tournament, pick a player to support like footie, and that might get me interested in working through gm games!
Chessbase.com have analysis of the games on their site (just follow each day as it's posted). They are including the post game analysis by the players, well worth a look. 🙂
Originally posted by MarinkatombNo, I don't want to do it live, I want to download a file from somewhere that just has the games in order that I can import to my fritz 13 database or whatever, the. Play through at my convenience.

you are somewhere near 2100+, it will do you no good Dewi, play through the games
with your chess set and think about your own thought process!
The games can be downloaded from here.

I advise fishing amongst the FIDE OPEN games - always juicy stuff in
these tournaments.

Black knows the technique for winning such an ending is Zuggers.
He can play a Zuggers move here.
Instead he played 72...Kf8 and after 78. Rg8+ it's a draw.
What should Black have played?
Edit: Black's grade is 1977 - White is ungraded (!)
So much for grades and what they actually mean....Sod all.
My great mate Alastair White is playing in the FIDE he always plays
an interesting game.
I had better explain the draw.

Anand already won his game.
And it looks like McShane isn't long for the world in his game against Kramnik... you can't blame him though Kramnik is playing brilliantly.
Mickey Adams has a slight advantage in his game against Carlsen... if he can pull out a win it would probably make him a favorite to win the tournament.
