I'm having a hard time concentrating on chess and studying it. It feels like I lost interest. End of Feb, I was doing great at chess. Won a big 8 round tournament had my highest Otb rating and I was doing pretty good on Rhp also. After that I'm not sure what happenend. Putting effort into chess seemed like a drag, not as fun as it used to be. Since then I hav ...[text shortened]... s and Master ones, gave this advice.
Anyone else have something similar happen to them?

Originally posted by RahimKYeah, it happens to everyone at some point. Sometimes it's kinda like being in a relationship with a girl and the relationship becomes stagnant. The thrill is gone. :-(

So you break up and don't see her for a while. Then you begin to realize how much you miss her... how important she was in your life...
As fond memories come back you realize how incomplete you are without her. Suddenly you come to your senses and take her back. The story has a happy ending; you just need to do without the girl for awhile to appreciate her.
Cheers

Actually, I played 4 blitz game a couple of days after creating this thread. It gave me a minor boost for a hour but that was it.
First time I remeber playing blitz in 2 months. I hardly play blitz. Timer was 2 with 12 sec inc.

Originally posted by RahimKblaah only novices play with increments. so drop the 12 sec. inc. and start playing G/2min. or even better, G/1min. thats fun!
Timer was 2 with 12 sec inc.
and I know what you are thinking; "G/1min is nosense, one can just randomly move pieces and won by timeout." You are wrong. I have played many many G/1min OTB games and only about half of them were won by timeout...
Originally posted by Oddjob291Well, I'm single too at the moment... but being in that situation only makes me feel more positive for the future. See, we live in a universe that must comply with a set of rules. The rules go something like this:

If you are in a relationship and happy, something must happen to upset that relationship.
If you are NOT in a relationship, something must happen to change that!
Yeah, I know, it's all very confusing. Just trust me, if you aren't in a relationship something will happen to change that - maybe even sooner than you think.
Originally posted by JusuhI don't see any benefit for me to play so quickly. Once in awhile, every 2 months or so, I'll log onto Icc as a guest and play several blitz games. 2/12 or 5/3. I played some bullet 1/0 vs the bot on there because I was curious but after 4-5 games that was it for me.

We do what we feel comfortable with. You play blitz, I play regular.
