There was an episode of 'Colombo' where a chess grandmaster who had murdered a rival, played f4 and g4 in a simul, and got mated, after explaining to the scruffy detective that he would never make some obvious mistake that the murderer had. I never expected to see a strong player do it in real life though.
I know exactly what it is, I play a lot of games at once, and when a new tournament kicks off I try and blitz through the openings to get the games moving quickly, especially if the player is currently online and moving like this one.
I also like to play a mixture of openings to avoid each game being too similar and I've tried to add the Bird to my opening repatoire in the last 6 months, but as you can see I'm not at all at home with it and seem prone to this blunder.
I'm sure if a night had passed between my first and second move I would never had made this stupid mistake! Hopefully, it hasn't totally scuppered my chances in the tournament. I posted it to see if any other players blitzed as recklessly as me, or had mental / visual blocks like this.

I think that anybody that has been around at least a little while, would know that Exy has made a significant amount of chess-knowledgeable posts and hence; wouldn't even think of making a cheating accusation against him.
He was showing what can happen when you move too fast. I think that is a mistake that ALL OF US has made before. Couple moving too fast and playing a variety of openings all at once...and BAM, the Fool's Mate can happen -- even to the better of us.
Thanks for the reminder Exy...

the bird is actually a pretty good opening but just watch out for the froms gambit. Gotta get that g knight out quicker

and your point is?
If I must, I think he knows about the From Gambit, and when to bring the G knight out... If you were saying that for those less Bird-experienced, then my post is a nice little addendum to yours, for them to review some bird games by a high ranked player.

Why do I have a blind spot to this?! Do you think it's cos I'm left handed? 😲
Don't move your F pawn unless you have the whole thing well worked out or you are a tactical menace.
Whatever sound opening start with 1.f4 you can be sure you don't know the lines even 2 moves deep.

Anyway, last night I got in late from work like this evening, poured myself a beer and got online to make a few moves, only to discover that two new tournaments had started and I had over 20 new games to make opening moves in, so off I went and bang - look what happened!
I don't know how seriously other people take their play here but to me it's just fun, I play lots and I play quick and I was purely posting this blunder to give people a giggle and also to find out if anyone else makes the same silly mistakes in their RHP games.
I know that stone cold sober and wide eyed and bushy tailed, facing an opponent OTB, I would never make this kind of careless error, but as I said that's not typically how I approach my games on RHP and I wondered if anyone else finds they slip up in this way or if every move in every game is always considered carefully?
