I think I would have gone for 13...Bh5 14.g4 Bg6 15.Nh4
to get rid of the bishop and weakening the black pawn structure
at the same time.

But you would exchange weak black bishop for good knight. Moving Nh4 I would link with moving to f5

I know the bishop is weak, but it's a good defender
and adding a weakened pawn structure I think the exchange
is worthwhile.

I think that if knight will move on f5 bishop will be forced to exchange it, (sooner or later) in better redaction for white.

1.e4 e5 2.f4 Bc5[/b]
Thanks for the advice.

I just applied this on my latest game and I found myself pretty confortable Game 3556488.. that bishop remained pain till the end for the opponent.

After 25.Rxb7 g6 26.a4 (otherwise black will take on a2) Re8 (with doubling rooks on 2nd horizontal in next move) black is wins easily.

25…g6 26.Rdd7?

Making my task simpler. After 26.Rf1 Raxa2 27.Rfxf7 Ra1+ 28.Rf1 Rxf1+ 29.Kxf1 b5 30.Rxb7 b4 31.cxb4 cxb4 black should win, but it won`t be so easy as in game.

Korch gives some analysis after 26.Rdd7 suggesting that 26.Rf1 would have offered more resistance. I would point out that White can get an improved version of this line by playing 25.Rxb7 and after 25...g6 continuing 26.Rf1 (rather than 26.a4) Raxa2 27.Rfxf7 Ra1+ 28.Rf1 Rxf1+ 29.Kxf1 and White is a tempo up over the suggested line. The question is: Is this enough of a difference to change the outcome? My gut feeling is no, but it is worth investigating.

Thanks, I'll try to check it out later.

This game bothers me though.

What do you think about this particular line of the KG ? I haven't found or played many games featuring this line.. Game 3173836

I dont think that black after 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Bc4 should play 3...f5? - its not good idea.

This is an interesting KG game that I just finished. I'm still a little bewildered by it.

Yes, he beat me in the Grob (not the Kings Gambit) but so what, he is better than me. I am not bitter.

So I sound bitter? Am I behaving like a prat?

At least I played all the game and didn't let him time me out once I was beaten, then when no hope was left I resigned.

Northern Lad is pro, very pro - especially with the KG.
